Life Hurts God Heals

For those that are interested, here's some information about Life Hurts God Heals.

Purpose: Life Hurts God Heals (LHGH) is a program specifically designed to help teens heal from emotional pain.

How it Works: LHGH works because of the power of sharing. Each week we come and talk about what is really going on in our lives. What we struggle with, what our fears are, what we have trouble overcoming. There is no "fixing" or judging each other. No one tells someone else what to do or how to handle things. The power simply comes by sharing. While we are encouraged to share each week, we do not have to do so if we do not feel like it.

What do we do? LHGH fits roughly into a two hour block. We first listen to a brief message about an aspect of dealing with emotional pain. Topics in this part can range from things like denial, forgiveness, hope, or support for each other. We they spend time jouraling about how these principles relate to our emotional pain. Lastly, we get together with people our own age and gender and share whatever we feel like sharing that week. Sounds pretty simple, right? Yet, we truly believe in the healing power of Christ through people who are willing to open their hearts and share.

When is it? LHGH begins Sunday, Feb. 22 from 3:00-5:00 PM and continues for the next 13 Sundays in the spring. We are all encouraged to come every week, but if someone misses one, that's ok, they can join right back in the next time.

How do I know if this is for me? LHGH is any teen grades 7-12 who deals with any type of emotional pain. These can be things such as loneliness, troubled family dynamics, confusion, guilt, pain derived from mom or dad, depression, cutting, eating disorders, addiction to pornography, drugs, or alcohol. We are under the impression that if you're human, then you've got pain. We also have found out that many teens do deal with pain and they're not even aware of it. So, if you're curious, you ought to try it out a week to see if could be something helpful.

The things going on in my life are pretty private, I don't want other people talking about them.
One of the key principles of LHGH is confidentiality. What is shared in small group stays in small group. Those not willing to adhere to this principle are asked not to participate in the program. LHGH across the nation has had very few incidents of people breaking confidentiality. You can be assured that it is a safe place to be.

I appreciate your willingness to come this far and pray that you'll be able to make the necessary steps to work towards healing in your life.
